Truths or Myths ?
-
Here are the
Truths
-
What holds the hair system (weave) on?
Special
double-sided tape can be used daily by placing it
around the perimeter of the weave. Other methods
include using special weave clips, hardbond
adhesives, or a cable weave track and sew method of
attachment.

-
Can I go swimming
or exercising without losing my hair weave and
embarrassing myself?
Yes. Contrary
to what is seen in television (often for comedy
purposes), the hair weave will not fall off easily
while exercising. But the firmness of the weave
depends on the type of exercise you are doing.
Extreme sports like water skiing would require more
lasting attachments like the hardbond adhesives.

-
Will the hair weave lift off in high winds?
It shouldn’t. The key in preventing the weave from lifting up at all is
having it made to conform correctly to the shape of
your head. That is one reason why a custom-made
stock weave is superior to a stock piece. When you
make your weave mould (it’s really simple and easy),
be sure to use 4 layers of clear packing tape so
that the mould will hold the shape and contour of
your head. A weave that fits well gives a more
natural look and feel.

-
How do I care for my weave? What hair care
products are recommended?
You can
maintain the weave yourself by washing it with a
mild pH (4.5 – 5.5) shampoo. Use cream-type
conditioners that do NOT contain Lanolin, polymers,
or heavy oils, to give the weave a soft feel.
Alternatively, you may choose to come to New Chain
Hair Centre Pte Ltd for your weave maintenance.

5.
How often do I need to have my weave tightened
or firmed again if it is attached permanently?
Depending on
the type of attachment method used, clients are
advised to return to our centre every 4-6 weeks.
Other factors including the rate of hair growth,
natural scalp oils and lifestyles, will influence
the frequency of visits to our centre.

-
What is the difference between synthetic and
human hair?
Both synthetic
and human hair can experience colour fadage. Human
hair can be re-coloured, but not synthetic hair. A
synthetic weave is good for daily use because it
requires relatively low maintenance. However, if it
is used extensively (for sleeping, showering,
exercising), there is a tendency that it might get
fuzzy quickly whereas human hair will not. Synthetic
hair goes flat with time and must be steam-waved
every 6-8 weeks. Human hair, on the other hand, can
be ordered with waves up to 10mm or it can be permed
(with care) without damaging it. However, if the
hair must be tightly curled, it can only be ordered
with synthetic hair.

-
What is the difference between a custom-made and
stock hair weave?
Stock hair
pieces are of a standard size, recession and
contour. They are also limited in available colours.
They are pre-made and are available immediately, but
they may not fit properly on your head. As mentioned
earlier, custom-made hair weaves are specially made
and designed to fit best on your head, with your
individual needs and requirements met. They also
provide the most natural look and feel.

Truths Or Myths?
Here are the
truths.
-
Cutting or shaving hair will have no effect on its rate
of growth.
-
Shampooing hair will not affect hair loss one way or the
other. Hairs that fall out during shampooing
are ready to drop as there is new growth.
-
Shampooing once or twice a day is acceptable as long as
the shampoo is formulated for daily use.
People with oily scalps are recommended to
shampoo their hair daily.
-
Frequency of shampooing will not affect the rate of
production of sebum (oil) from the sebaceous
glands.
-
Sebum does not cause hair loss. Hair follicles do not
get blocked up by oil.
